20 -25 Februari 2023 : Kursus Etika Sukarelawan Polis Siswa-siswi (SUKSIS) Universiti Malaya

Kor Sukarelawan Polis Siswa Siswi Universiti Malaya (Kor SUKSIS) UM telah mengadakan Kursus Etika bagi skuad junior di Pusat Penyelidikan Bioteknologi Glami Lemi Universiti Malaya (PPBGL UM) pada 20 hingga 25 Februari 2023. Program melibatkan peserta seramai lebih kurang 60 orang.

Kursus Kepimpinan Persatuan Pelajar Fakulti Sains anjuran Unit Hal Ehwal Pelajar Fakulti Sains Universiti Malaya yang diadakan pda 14/7 - 16/7/2023 telah dihadiri oleh seramai 30 orang peserta yang terdiri daripada Pemimpin-pemimpin persatuan pelajar di Fakulti Sains

10 October 2023 - Strengthening Collaborative Research Ties: UniSZA Besut Visit to PPBGL

Associate Professor Dr. Connie Fay Komilus and Dr. Asmad Kari from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) Besut paid a visit to the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL) on 10th of October 2023. The purpose of this visit is to enhance research collaboration and explore opportunities for postgraduate placements. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the PPBGL Complex and the Sheep Pen, which predominantly focuses on the Pure Breed species, Barbados Blackbelly. Currently, two postgraduate students from UniSZA Besut are conducting their research at PPBGL, specifically focusing on Barbados Blackbelly.

     

28 - 29 October 2023 - Management and Reproduction of Small Ruminants Training (LPPRK 2) 2023 

The Management and Reproduction of Small Ruminants Training 2023 2.0 was organized by the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL) in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) on 28th and 29th  of October 2023. This programme saw the participation of around 40 attendees, including local farmers and students from the University of Malaya. UM Plantation Sdn Bhd. and Koperasi Pendidikan Usahawan Berhad (KEKAL) played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of this program. Participants were introduced to the methods of Assisted Reproduction Technologies (ART) and took part in a seminar titled "Universiti Malaya Small Ruminants Seminar." The seminar, led by veterinarian doctors, industry experts, and University of Malaya lecturers, provided valuable insights and knowledge on small-ruminant management and reproduction.

      

3 November 2023 - Universiti Malaya Animal Biotechnology Practical Class

The Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL) hosted the Animal Biotechnology Practical Class on 3rd of November 2023, which was supervised by Dr. Nuradilla Mohamad Fauzi. 34 Bachelor Degree of Science in Biotechnology students from Universiti Malaya were in attendance at this practical session. Semen collection, artificial insemination (AI), and ultrasound procedures were among the Assisted Reproduction Technologies (ART) that were introduced to the students during the session. Additionally, under the supervision of PPBGL's Research Officer, En Mohd Shahmi Hakimi Mazlishah, the students were given the invaluable opportunity to actively participate in the collection of sperm and blood samples.

  

    

22 November 2023 - KOSAVET Napier Planting and Silage Making Course

On 22nd of November 2023, the Napier Planting and Silage Making course, organized by KOSAVET in collaboration with Koperasi Pendidikan Usahawan Berhad (KEKAL), took place at the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL). The course attracted the participation of 40 attendees. The training covered the methods of planting Napier grass and the processes involved in silage-making. The primary objective of this course was to enhance ruminant nutrition by providing participants with information and skills related to Napier planting and silage making. The successful implementation of these practices is expected to contribute to improved ruminant health through the production of high-quality Napier and silage.

    

23 November 2023 - General Meeting of Persatuan Guru-Guru Besar Negeri Sembilan

The Persatuan Guru-Guru Besar Negeri Sembilan organized a general meeting, gathering around 100 principals from across the state on 23rd of November 2023, at the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre. 

 

Internal Training on Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) at PPBGL

On 17th of November 2023, the Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) Course was conducted, engaging the staff and interns of Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre (PPBGL) at PPBGL itself. This internal training initiative aimed to enhance the staff's understanding and proficiency in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART). The acquired skills are intended to be applied in assisting the students and researchers at PPBGL in the near future.

 

 

4 - 14 December 2023 - SMKA Sheikh Haji Mohd Said SPM Camps

Two SPM camps, each lasting 4 days and 3 nights, conducted by Sekolah Menengah Agama Sheikh Haji Mohd Said, were organized at the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre, Universiti Malaya (PPBGL). The camps comprised two series: Series 1, held from 4th  to 7th of December 2023, and Series 2, held from 11th  to 14th of December 2023. With a total participation of 120 students, both series concluded successfully. Series 1 focused on social science stream students, while Series 2 concentrated on pure science stream students. These camps aimed to prepare students for the upcoming Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) by providing tips from experienced speakers and utilizing the latest modules. Additionally, the camps were organized to instill motivation in the students, ensuring they are well-prepared cognitively, physically, and emotionally for the upcoming exams.  

   

 

22 December 2023 - Animal Nutrition and Feed (SIO3019) Practical Class

The Animal Nutrition and Feed (SIO3019) Practical Class was conducted on 22nd of December 2023 at the Glami Lemi Biotechnology Research Centre, Universiti Malaya (PPBGL).  35 students enrolled in the Bachelor Degree of Science in Biotechnology programme at Universiti Malaya were in attendance. During the session, students were given demonstrations on the procedures for producing Effective Microorganism (EM) and silage at PPBGL. Before the visit to PPBGL, the students had the opportunity to tour a fish farm at the Drug Rehabilitation Institute in Negeri Sembilan. This visit allowed the students to inspect the fish farming process done by the institute closely. The practical class was conducted under Dr. Norhidayah Mohd Taufek, a senior lecturer at the Institute of Biological Sciences.
